Kristallweizen
Kristallweizen or “crystal wheat” is a variation on the traditional German Hefeweizen style. Classic fizzy yellow beer with a smooth “wheaty” mouthfeel along with the traditional banana / clove esters and phenols, but without the haze.
Krystallweizen uses a hefeweizen yeast strain and malt bill but undergoes a clarification in order to make it nice and clear/bright. It is common for classic German breweries such as Weihnstephanen to offer a filtered version of their wheat beers, although they are often not as popular, but delicious.
